The moving process is over now. Took lesser time than I anticipated.
Thanks to the export/import feature of WordPress, and numerous tutorials on the web, that tell us how to move your site and all permalinks without losing visitors (and to some extent the PR)
I am gonna start posting stuff soon.

Bachchan family raising middle finger?

the picture is so unbelievable that i almost feel its altered.
Well technically it isnt.
I find it hard to believe that the bachchans can do that.
I am a fan of Big B, and i don’t think his family could be that naive to do this on camera

The server at my office crashed this week. We had moved all our projects onto it just 2 weeks back. And the worse thing is we had no backups. As it was supposed to be stable and was going to be equipped with a RAID partition soon.
But alas!!
Now we’ll have to do most of the work again right from the start.
So I guess I am going to be even busier in the coming weeks.
But this has taught us a lot, now we’re going to be prepared for the future

Indian Constitution online

I was just surfing around and found out the official latest version of the Constitution of India, owned, maintained and updated by Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice.

It provides Index wise as well as fulltext search facility and the text is available in Hindi & English.

And in case you wana download the ful pdf version you can get it here, again a governmental website so its all official.

So, “We the people of India..” can access the constitution anytime and use it for our reference, with pride.

Tech Mahindra wins Satyam bid

So, Tech Mahindra has done it. It kept saying no-no all the time, and finally Tech Mahindra is the company that has bagged Satyam, the ill-fated Software Giant.

Whatever Raju did has worked out great for Tech M.

Tech Mahindra(formerly Mahindra British Telecom) the software arm of Mahindra & Mahindra Group, ranked 6th in the last NASSCOM rankings, has so far been focussed on the telecom sector only, and has been a pioneer there. Now it is foraying into the big sea with huge infrastructure of Satyam, with the experienced employees which were a strength of the company that made it big, big enough to shake world markets when it went down itself.

This is special for me as I am waiting for my joining with Tech Mahindra, since last September (which was postponed due to the recession and projects getting delayed). This event can change a lot for people like me. Nobody can actually say whether it is going to be good or bad. Now when Tech Mahindra gains control over Satyam it will have to take care of an emancipated beast that once roared the jungles of IT world, but once it gets better it will strengthen Tech M a lot. The number of engineering passouts of 2008 batch waiting for their joining in Satyam are huge in number, while the existing employees of Satyam seek some consolation in this acquisition by Tech M.

All I hope is that people like me get to join their dream jobs soon.
We have waited to long. I hope things turn out good for people at Satyam as well.

How to create a Favicon file?

Everyone wants that cute looking favicon in the location bar and tab bar of the browsers when somebody visits their site, which is in fact very simple then it appears to be.

I googled a bit and found tons of scripts and small softwares that can do it for you. Some provide you the old (and gold indeed) method to edit those blocks of .ico files.

The best one i found was the one at Favicon.cc

but it isnt that attractive and easy for people whoe are bad at drawing with the mouse, specially when it comes to putting squares over squares.

A number of sites let you upload an image of your choice and convert it to .ico file. This is good if you have a logo of your website with you.

The best one comes from none other than Dynamic Drive

As simple as it sounds. And flawless like other cool stuff from them.

The other one in this category is FaviconGenerator

similar to the one at DynamicDrive and self explanatory

But what i used to create the sample favicon you are seeing on the tab bar above right now, is the one i created using a very simple script from this site

with the strange name Antifavicon

I liked it more than the others because it reall is the simplest, you do not need to have a logo designed for you in advance or edit that ico file.

All you have to do is to enter the text you want and choose the color settings. And you’re done

There are a lots of other sites that provide you animated favicon generators and other flashy stuff.. but i guess that’s not what everyone wants..
